WC129 Customer Cabling Products and Installation Working Committee

The WC129 Customer Cabling Products and Installation Working Committee is to revise the following documents:

AS/CA S008:2020 Requirements for customer cabling products
AS/CA S009:2020 Installation requirements for customer cabling (Wiring Rules)

The Working Committee is to address the following areas of review as part of the project:

For AS/CA S008:2020

to address the issues that have been identified in the public review of the Standard, including:
- references to the requirements for Surge Protection Devices
- use of legacy terminology including ‘indoor cable’, ‘outdoor cable’ and ‘underground cable’
- requirements for lift travelling cable that us used for data
- consideration of ‘plated copper’ and ‘copper clad aluminium’ requirements
- use of different coaxial cable types
- requirements for the marking and sizes of underground conduit
- review of changes to cable flammability requirements
- water penetration tests
- requirements for concrete pits

For AS/CA S009:2020

to address the issues that have been identified in the public review of the Standard, including:
- guidance for health & safety provisions
- updating the broadcast cabling exemption
- definition of cords
- requirements for lift travelling cable that us used for data
- review the fitness for purpose requirement
- conductor size for generic cabling
- heat rise in cable bundles
- review of plug-terminated cabling requirements
- separation distances from other services
- EV charging systems
- fixed and concealed cabling requirements for various cabling installations
- cable supports and enclosures
- depth of cover requirements
